The NMHS Career Center took sixteen students on a field trip to Bates Technical College to explore the many different career paths available. Students delved into careers in fire and emergency medical services, barbery, construction, welding, auto body, and much more! They also received bonus free haircuts from students enrolled in the barber program. Good timing!
Speaking of timing -- there is still time to enroll for the Fall quarter at Bates Technical College. Visit batestech.edu to learn more.
This is just one of many field trips the Career Center has organized for students to explore the multitude of career paths available to them through post-secondary education career training.

💙Recognizing Courage💙
The trait of courage is being recognized in Jill Lowe, Pam Pettingill, Clarissa Rinehold, and Lori Johnson by the Director of Transportation, Maurine Simons. She shares that, “This group of staff members demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership by engaging in difficult yet necessary conversations with both their peers and the district. They approached these discussions with respect, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit, creating a space where all voices could be heard and understood. Their willingness to confront challenges head-on, while maintaining a focus on solutions and unity, reflects a deep commitment to the well-being of their school community. Through their respectful dialogues and teamwork, they helped build stronger relationships and laid the groundwork for meaningful, lasting progress. Their actions are a powerful example of what it means to lead with integrity and compassion, and they are truly deserving of recognition.” Congratulations on this recognition, Jill, Pam, Clarissa, and Lori! 🥎 The NMHS fastpitch team had a special guest join them to throw out the first pitch at yesterday's game. Before stepping up to the mound, Superintendent Rosenbach got some quick tips from Coach Youngberg as well as high-fives and encouragement from the team. After throwing a convincing toss over home plate, the team presented her with a signed ball as a commemorative keepsake.

NMHS students toured Clover Park Technical College to explore programs available in the areas of dental assisting, health care, esthetics, automotive, manufacturing, construction, CAD, computer programming and more. The orientation tour included many hands on activities, providing students with an in-depth experience that illustrated the full range of innovative educational opportunities available to them. Thank you to the NMHS Career Center for sharing this student experience with our community!

💙 Recognizing Courage 💙
As part of the building administrator appreciation series, Principal Klusman would like to highlight Alex Sanquist, who
"courageously took on the role of music teacher at Belfair Elementary for the '25-'26 school year and we are so excited for him."
This is a big role to fill, Alex, and we appreciate you taking it on so our students can continue receiving the benefits of musical instruction. Thank you!

💙 Recognizing Courage 💙
For May, administration is recognizing the trait of 'Courage.' First up is this appreciation series is Dan Inch, security guard for Hawkins Middle School and James A. Taylor High School. Mackenna Long, Child Nutrition Director, nominated Dan with the following acknowledgement: "He puts himself in positions that a lot of people would not want to handle. He is amazing with the students and they benefit from his support."
Thank you, Dan, for all you do to keep our students and district safe.

🚌 Bus evacuation drills were conducted around the district this morning. 🦺
Three times a year, our drivers conduct drills at each building to ensure that students are equipped with safety knowledge in case of an emergency.
Before practicing the evacuation portion of the drill, drivers go over an important review about setting the brakes, importance of reflectors, location of first aid kits and fire extinguishers, and how to get help. Students are then shown how to open emergency exits and the top hatch door. Finally, the importance of arranging a pre-determined assembly point is discussed before students spend time practicing how to get out of the bus safely.
This activity is run by the bus drivers with the support of department and building administration. Thank you to all involved for prioritizing safety for our students.

Día de Los Niños
Belfair Elementary MLL team Amy Anderson, Dalia Pelico, Luz Geiser, hosted a 'Día del niño' for their students to showcase what they have been working on during the year. Students presented their poetry and readings to the audience that included their families, Principal Klusman, Superintendent Rosenbach, and the family engagement team, Mateo Santiago and Laura Pugh.
Thank you to all who made this enjoyable evening possible for our students!

❤️ Bulldog Java was on site at Belfair Elementary to spread the love to our teachers through their mobile coffee service. Teachers were excited for this annual teacher appreciation week tradition and, as they arrived for their day, visited with the students who were setting up their coffee station in the front office. One student, Cooper, enjoyed traveling down memory lane after running into his Kindergarten paraeducator, Alicia Covert. A feel good day for ALL! Next stop for the Bulldog Java mobile appreciation service will be Thursday, when they travel to Sand Hill Elementary. Thank you Bulldog Java for helping make teacher appreciation week extra special for our amazing team of educators!
