🦷Molar Roller Team🦷 Thanks to our community partners at Peninsula Community Health Services, Sand Hill Elementary and North Mason Upper Campus students were able to access dental care this week though the mobile dental program; a service that removes the barrier many families face getting students to dental appointments. Nurse Jaclyn and her team are working to provide more valuable opportunities like this in the future. Thank you to all involved in making this possible for our students!

Families came out to celebrate the many cultures that make up the Huskies community at the International Festival hosted by Hawkins MS last month. Some brought their favorite dish to share, others came dressed in traditional costumes, and there was music and dancing to add to the ambience and fun. Despite an initial date change due to weather, the turnout was fantastic. Our 7th graders also had the chance to showcase their WA State History projects. Thank you to our MLL team, volunteers, and all who attended to make this such a successful event for our students and community.

🩺 Healthcare Career Camp 🚑
Sixteen North Mason students attended "Healthcare Camp" today in Bremerton to explore a variety of careers in the healthcare industry. The students, accompanied by Autumn Perry, NMHS graduation specialist and Kyle Ottenbacher, NMHS athletic trainer, were able to visit close to 24 healthcare related career tables that were doing demonstrations and providing career information.
A huge thank you to Olympic College, the Marvin Williams Recreation Center, and Virginia Mason Franciscan for making this event possible for students!

🥎 Special Guest at the Fastpitch Game 🥎
Our upcoming superintendent was visiting the district yesterday as part of the transition planning. Her goal is to meet with students, staff, and community members by visiting events that are underway. Accompanied by School Board President Erik Youngberg, she stopped by the fastpitch game to meet the team, coaches and officials, and throw the first pitch. Decked out in Bulldog gear, Kristine Michael is embracing all the Pacific Northwest has to offer and is looking forward to joining the North Mason community when she moves here in June. Welcome to North Mason, Superintendent Michael!

☀️ The Sound of Sunshine ☀️ Mr. Frost and his band students took their class time outside on this beautiful day, the sunbeams making the instruments shine just a bit brighter and the music sounding that much sweeter being carried along by the warm breeze. Thank you, Mr. Frost and students...it's always a treat for those working inside the district office to hear the outside practices!

Joan had these observations to share about Traci's contribution as secretary for the busy department: “Traci actively listens to others and seeks a win-win solution that benefits our group. She is adaptable, supportive and goes out of her way to ensure things run smoothly. Her positive attitude and commitment to shared success make her an essential part of our department.”
Thank you for all you do, Traci! Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Though they are off during spring break we would still like to take a moment to recognize Kevin Pattison, Christy Dalby, Tyler Lunde, and Steve Hackett for Assistant Principals Week. Thank you for all you do to support our students' success. Enjoy some well-deserved relaxation!

🌿 As part of the 7th grade ecology unit, Ms. Kivi took her class to the Theler Wetlands last week for a field trip sponsored by the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group (HCSEG). Students learned about the ecosystem, focusing on native and invasive species, and also had the opportunity to remove English Ivy under the guidance of HCSEG and AmeriCorps employees.
The students also participated in several activities, including planting native willow live stakes, creating rain gardens to learn about the wetlands as natural filters, going on a native and invasive plant/animal scavenger hunt, and playing a native plant identification relay game.
Thank you to Brandi Kivi for sharing this glimpse into this incredible learning opportunity for our students, right in their own backyard! Thank you HCSEG and AmeriCorps for sharing your knowledge with our students.
